Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter.
During Lent, we seek the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scripture; we serve by giving alms; and we practice self-control through fasting. We are called not only to abstain from luxuries during Lent, but to a true inner conversion of heart as we seek to follow Christ's will more faithfully.
We are also called to practice self-discipline and fast throughout the season, such as abstaining from meat on Fridays during Lent. In addition, the giving of alms is one way to share God's gifts—not only through the distribution of money, but through the sharing of our time and talents
ARE YOU SEARCHING FOR PEACE?
COME HOME & BE HEALED.
Are you searching for peace and forgiveness in your life? On Thursday, March 7, from 6-8 p.m., parishes across the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend are offering the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
If you have been reluctant to come to the sacrament, have been away for some time, or just find it difficult to get to an existing confession time, the doors of St. Vincent de Paul will be open for you to return to the mercy and forgiveness of the Father.
The Seder Meal is a ritual meal commemorating the events of the Exodus.
The observance of the Seder meal celebrates not only our tradition of Christ's last supper but our own Jewish heritage.
The Parish will furnish the lamb and wine for the meal. There is no charge for dinner, but each person will be asked to bring a dish to share among the eight people at the table (the recipe will be provided to you).
