Students not attending St. Vincent School enrolled in the Family Faith Formationiton program will begin preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist in the 1st Grade. Sacramental preparation is a two-year process and will continue through the 2nd Grade year. Generally, children 7 years of age are considered as having reached the age of reason, and thus ready to receive these sacraments. Students will receive First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in the spring of the second-grade year. It is expected that the children will continue to be formed in faith through our Family Faith Formation program after receiving these sacraments.
Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist will take the form of family instruction. All families with 1st & 2nd Grade children enrolled in the Family Faith Formationiton program will attend the monthly Families Living Faith sessions for grades 1-6, plus additional sacramental prep sessions called Faith First Communities for grades 1 & 2 only. The Faith First sessions for 1st and 2nd-grade/year families are below:

Sunday Sessions - 3:00 to 4:30 PM
No additional registration is needed for the Faith First Community sessions. If you are enrolled in the Family Faith Formation program and have a 1st or second-grade/year child, you are expected to attend and will be automatically enrolled.
Students in Saint Vincent de Paul School - You are invited but not required to attend Faith First Community sessions. Information about sacramental preparation will be given to second-grade school families in the fall, and registration will open in August.
Homeschool/Other Catholic School - If your child is homeschooled, or attends a Catholic school other than Saint Vincent de Paul, please contact Debbie Blackburn about your child's sacramental preparation process.
