First Communion

Students not attending St. Vincent School enrolled in Family Faith Formation typically begin preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist in the 1st Grade, however, some students enter our program in the second or third grade. Sacramental preparation is a two-year process. After completing two years in the Family Faith Formation/Sacramental Prep program, students will receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. After receiving these sacraments, children will continue to be formed in faith through our Faith Formation program through the 8th Grade after receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist will take the form of family instruction.  In addition to the monthly Families Living Faith Sessions, first and second-grade/second-year families will attend additional Sacramental Prep sessions. In addition to the Sacramental Prep sessions, second-grade/second-year families will also attend events focusing specifically on the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist.   The dates of the Sacramental Prep sessions and additional second-grade events are:

First Reconciliation- (No need to sign up; come on either day.)

• Saturday, February 1 - 11:00 AM in the Church
• Saturday, February 8 - 11:00 AM in the Church

First Communion Retreat – Saturday, March 22, from 7:45 AM to Noon in St. Vincent School

First Communion Practice – Wednesday, April 23 at 6:00 PM in the Church

First Communion(You will receive an online link to sign up for a First Communion date at the time of the Parent Meeting).

• Sunday, April 27 at 1:30 PM in the Church
• Sunday, May 4 at 1:30 PM in the Church (or at any regularly scheduled Mass the weekend of May 3 & 4).

No additional registration is needed for the Sacramental Prep sessions.  If you are enrolled in the Family Faith Formation program and have a 1st or second-grade/year child, you are expected to attend and will be automatically enrolled.

Homeschool/Other Catholic School - If your child is homeschooled, or attends a Catholic school other than Saint Vincent de Paul, please contact, Debbie Blackburn, about your child's sacramental preparation process.
